DE CARNE Y CUERO

nos han cosido un pasado

en la mollera

vuelven arrepentidos

antes peleaban

porque los negritos iban a la guerra

pero no era nuestra guerra

ahora no sabemos dónde escondernos

quizá no muera

alguna memoria colectiva tendremos

antes quizá ¿recuerdan a Abraham

¿eres cristiano? ¿latinoamericano? ¿venezolano?

estás jodido

vienen por ti tres reclutas

y van a violarte

todos van a enseñarte una lengua diferente

choca el paladar contra la carne dura

no te ahogues mientras

no alcanza

para callar tantos gritos

permanecen espectrales

los silencios

frente al palacio

por las calles

todos aguardando que alguien

invisible

lo decida y lo declare

cayó.

OF MEAT AND LEATHER

they have sewn us a past

in the pate

they come back in regret

to memory

when it’s hard for them to admit the trap

if the hero got his moral

where is best enjoyed

everything would be balder

more wrinkle of smiling lady

more booty and less rally

no one asked the square for permission

they put it a name

and then the bouquets of flowers

 huddled in silence

God want drugs to be expensive

and the dogs not to bark nocturnal confessions

God want anyone to stand on the sidewalk

an evangelical with  megaphone and the gift of a python

God save us from the campaign period

and its retaliation of graffiti

a nation memory is not enough

to keep so many electoral lies

tell the poor school, everything what happens

neither the cafeteria nor the preschool classroom are saved

they are witnesses of the sarcastic silence

a billboard with the flag and the drawing of the hero

everything is an alibi

the rattles sound and  the nation that itches us

with an ancient poison

must repeat the ration

remind us that the world pays off

to get in the deck

and give us in paradox a bad hand

we fought before because the negroes went to war

but it was not our war

now we do not know where to hide

the loudspeaker screams

the euphoria is a conuco in flames

we thought before that the Berlin Wall held something

Maybe it held the reason

maybe it was one more evidence of the horizon

We thought that hairy Che belonged to a time

but it seems that he still trembles

that he produces tornadoes

that he causes droughts

one day a deadly hurricane

will be called Ché Guevara

(just one more ironic than the other left

and fewer divorcee meteorologists)

strain of roses, the fear

hardened by the sun on the crowd

the socket is already a mockery

all traditions are rewritten

Who the hell is going to throw down a government

at the May square?

hunger is uneducated

cemeteries are wiser and silent

a woman waits with her guitar

that the revolution comes

to rape her

I laugh of hunger

and people crowd

it will fall! they say in a profane prayer

there are already more than one thousand

nobody knows who leads the hope

Or what led the students

to the April Revolution?

the epigrams are braver than Cardinal

Or is Rafael Cadenas braver in his Defeat?

Who wants to be thirsty when there is only blood?

naked, the girl

sing one of Chabuca Granda

She has a good voice and beautiful legs

maybe she won’t die

a long talk of a hero

who tried to free us with blood

the same way to oppress us

but he got so fat

that he died

God protect us from his gendarmes

the daggers shine inside the palace

not even Louis XVI was saved from that smile

some collective memory we keep

from the blood of Marie Antoinette

the genes of liberalism go back to Julius Caesar

maybe you remember Abraham before

killing his own son?

the producers decided to change the end

It’s all the damn supervised schedule’s fault

an unknown sweet woman

came out of nowhere and gave birth to the world

This is how nations are being built

and their myths weave

they make us partakers of sickly nationalisms

are you Christian? Latin American? Venezuelan?

you are screwed.

three recruits come for you

and they are going to rape you

each one is going to teach you a different language

hard flesh hits against the palate

do not drown while

the ideology is going inward

it is a lesser evil

the nation will reward you for your services

the rainy and hot season is just beginning

those in the palace feel the voices in the lobe

all outside wait holding their breath

raging

Ten thousand maybe?

Is there a number that stands those that are not?

Nobody could inform them

no radios, no free TV

people wonder if it will fall

if it will leave something where it falls

if it’s only speculation and within that government

there’s more than shit and bullets

all governments are made of rivers

but sometimes, when the man grows

the mourn of the stones

 reminds him of freedom

even if it’s a fake

the hero

a nation

 is not enough

to shut up so many screams

they remain spectral

the silences

in front of the palace

on the streets

everyone waiting for someone

invisible

to decide it, to state it

it fell.

[HOMINUS HEROICUS AEDIFICEM]

para construir a un héroe

debemos seguir ciertas instrucciones:

[HOMINUS HEROICUS CREATES]

to build a hero

We must follow the instructions:

1) take a human group sensitive to the manipulation of elaborate discourses where a butterfly is a bomb, where an emperor (or president or traditional political party) is responsible of everything: guilty of poverty, bad weather, agricultural and bureaucratic pests, of robberies, of gifts, of tears, of iron fists, of menstruation, of the high cost of bourgeois life, of the low cost of human life, of climate change, of earthquakes, etc. .

2) get a model of man that represents all the precariousness of the human group. *

3) kill that man (or transform him, make him betray the cause, etc.)

4) disguise someone obedient and motivated of that man. **

5) give it power: any power, from the whistle of a

traffic prosecutor, a gun or 56% of the votes

in a popular election. There is no difference

* In the worst case copy a standard formula of popular or revolutionary leader. Double click on the following classic examples: Julius Caesar, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Attila, Napoleon, Hiltler, Walt Disney.

** It is important that the hero does not know that he is disguised.

estoy pensando en una bomba

pero todo se complica:

puede ser una pequeña maleta

olvidada en el parque

en la oscuridad de un recorrido

puede ser un lindo Volkswagen

aparcado correctamente

frente a una embajada

puede ser ese hombre

de gestos árabes

o ese otro

de la etnia wayuu

puede ser ese avión

que deja el rastro de nubes rotas

puede ser esa pieza de metal

que el científico ensambla

cuidadosamente

en su laboratorio subterráneo

puede ser ese discurso

enardecido

del presidente

en el televisor

pero también

puede ser esa chica

que viene hacia mí

con su sonrisa activada.

3

I’m thinking about a bomb

but everything gets tangled up:

It could be a small suitcase

forgotten in the park

in the darkness of a route

It could be a cute Volkswagen

parked correctly

in front of an embassy

it could be that man

of Arab gestures

or that one

of the Wayuu ethnic group

it could be that plane

which leaves a trail of broken clouds

it could be these pieces of metal

that the scientist put together

carefully

in his underground laboratory

it could be that speech

inflamed

of the president

on TV

but

It could also be that girl

who comes to me

with her active smile.
