Homero

Adivinando
he dejado de ver.

Y ahora me despierto
en el ojo
de otro.

Hasta el dedo
que me quita la lágrima encendida
es suyo.

Se quema.

Y arde.
Y tanto me duele

que canto.

Para no sentir.

Homer

Anticipating
I stopped seeing.

And now I wake up
in somebody else’s
eye.

Even this finger,
erasing the fire
of my tear
is his finger.

It burns.

Hurts so much,

And I sing.

To stop feeling.

¿Ser o ser?

Esa es la cuestión.

Un ser entumecido, hecho cuchillo
para rajarse a sí mismo,
dejar de gritar

amor.

Ser o ser.

To be, or to be?

That is the question.

One numb being, turned knife
To slash himself,
To stop screaming

love.

To be, or to be.

Ulises

A la playa de Ítaca
me trajeron dormido,
un cuerpo inerte sólo.

Primero
no me reconocieron
y después nadie me preguntó
nada.

He matado a los pretendientes.
Y más

no tengo que navegar.

No tengo que inventar.
No tengo que inventarme.
No tengo que ser
otro.

No tengo que ser.

Ni siquiera yo
sueño con Odiseo.

Mi fuga
a lo real

se ha cumplido.

Ulysses

In my sleep I was brought
to Ithaca’s shore,
a motionless body alone.

At first
nobody knew me.
And then nobody asked
anything.

I killed the suitors.
No longer

I have to sail through storms.

No longer to invent
No longer to invent myself.
To invent anything.
To be someone
else.

I don’t have to be.

Not even I dream
about Ulysses.

My escape
into reality

is completed.

y no sé dónde protegerte.

The details are the most important…

The letter in the pocket, forgotten and unreadable
after laundry and tumble dry,
the gaze I looked through, and passed by,
the voice of the unuttered,
the breath of a field, shaking in instant reactions,
the everyday, and only, face of my mother, who is gone.

The details are what we love.

There are fewer and fewer of them in this civilized word.
Industries, huge amounts of the same nothing.
And not a drop of the other. I was thinking the portrait
of the exhausted little finger of your left hand
in the museum of the most intimate memories,
But someone will reproduce my mind, my heart too,

And I don’t know where to shield you.

Hileras de letras I

Hileras de letras, pequeñas columnas volátiles,
hormigas omnívoras,

agarradas al sentido y la emoción.

Negras cadenas

STRINGS OF LETTERS I

Strings of letters, small fickle columns,
omnivorous ants,

clutching to the sense and sentiment.

Black chains
to where?

The inverted shadows cross the ripples,
the emptiness’ mirrors
to where?

A parenthesis of time in the time.

The loop of the verse spreads light and imagines darkness-es
through and through.

to where?

The crow’s wing-verses, each time faster, are slicing the worlds.

There is so much remoteness
in the blow of the black-and-white fans

to where?

Ovidio mira el Danubio.

El agua confusa fluye lenta
hacia el Mar Negro, hacia el Ponto.

Queda poco.

e inclemente.

Ovid looks at the Danube.

Unsettling water slowly flows
towards the Black Sea – the Pontic

There is little left.

The flatland at the sides resembles a bisected
peach

and the riverbed is like the pit, the rib of the upcoming,

the cold knife.

Everything is a form,
Everything formless

and merciless.

ORFEO

Me devuelven a Eurídice
pero no podré ver su sombra.

Me devuelven a Eurídice
pero sin la memoria del amor
que baja al infierno.

Me devuelven a Eurídice
pero sin camino de ida y vuelta
¿adónde? ¿y a quién?

Me devuelven a Eurídice.
¿pero en qué dirección
me siguen sus pasos?

Descendí al fondo de mí mismo
y me echaron.
Sin sombra.
Sin mirada.

Hasta mi sangre
quema
en la herida de Otro.

Nada sufro.

Y canto.

Porque no siento.

ORPHEUS

They give me back Eurydice
but I won’t see her shadow.

They give me back Eurydice
but with no memory of that love
descending into hell.

They give me back Eurydice
but with no way to and from
where? and to whom?
How am I to find myself?

Am I the lyre torn
by teeth and nails
of Bacchus women?

Without memories
I don’t see that light
the Tartar gods had spoken of
nor the rays – a sortilege
of script.

I am given back Eurydice
but in what direction
her steps will follow mine?

Descending down to my deepest me
I was thrown out.
With no shadow.
With no gaze.

Even my blood
is burning
in the wound of the Other.

I suffer nothing.

And I sing.

Because I don’t feel.
