Shambles

I

A pain guides my hand to reach shambles
like a bell moved by wind my heart rings.
I’m alone at night
alone with shivers that tour me
and cyclical howling carried by my blood
and the burden that my voice has over shadow.

Why am I not asleep?
From which dark thirst does my mouth tremble?
In my eyes black times explode,
in my blood insomnia coagulates;
my shadow is so dark
that it leaves stains on the walls.

II

It hurts to touch shambles in the darkness.
After having loved, the body is left in the dark.
There are memories there
splinters that pretend to be light under the eyelids,
vague trails of gold over ill skin.

The rest is night.
The rest is wind of the night.
The rest is smell of the wind of the night
and one goes into the night
like through a city
unknown.

III

I cleanse my body, my love,
in the most pure water flowing through my sleep.
I wash these hands that traversed you
and this chest from which you flourished.
I wash the legs that led me to you
and the sleepless arms
that held your sleep.

I cleanse my body, my love,
from right to left and from north to south
until your name is erased.
But it is just a moment:
after a couple hundred heartbeats
rot emanates from the heart once again
like black foam.

IV

I’ve entered the city like one enters the mist.
After having loved, the soul is left in the dark.
I shall go like the wind knocking old gates,
shadow bleeding me against long walls.

You’ve burned in my voice the last stars:
what I write is but ashes.

V

The skin is that lamp that keeps its light
after caress.
With it in our hands we give safe steps
in spite of the night
or the frayed curtain of rain.

But tonight my solitude falls;
my heart in the dark loses its way.
Your absence leaves the city cold,
the air darker,
the streets thinner
and longer.

VI

You’ve left me the night
so in it I leave my skin delirious.
I breathe pain that reaches through all windows.
You’ve left me also a heart of thick shadow,
images blazing on each hand
and this blood that flows each time lighter.

From your love only remains this long fatigue.
It’s your memory only
what ignites in my hand
these broken mirrors.

VII

There is wind in my dream that breaks green branches,
rips my fruit trees from the root,
opens gates in one strike,
fractures mirrors,
whistles in the strings of my nerves like a madman.
Then it leaves,
it turns into a tempest of foam into the throat
while I try to assort my sleep
and I rebuild the mirrors
to see you.

Escombros

I

en mi sangre el insomnio forma coágulos;

mi sombra es tan oscura

que deja manchadas las paredes.

II

Pero esta noche mi soledad tropieza;

mi corazón a oscuras equivoca el camino.

Al irte dejas la ciudad más fría,

el aire más oscuro,

las calles más angostas

y más largas

VI

Me has dejado la noche
